The Story of Aslin’s Inflight.
Initially drawn to making music by lyricists like Dolly Parton, Phoebe Bridgers, Soccer Mommy and Taylor Swift, Aslin’s soft approach to a country aesthetic on Inflight makes for a wistful, traditional, folk project. Aslin plays to her songwriting strengths beginning the EP with single “little white pills” — a haunting, steel pedal driven narrative about the rippling effects of the American opioid epidemic. A cover of Gillian Welch’s “Winter’s Come and Gone” follows, leading into “wings” — an Aslin original song written about and dedicated to her mother. Country classic “Keep Me From Blowing Away” (popularized by Linda Ronstadt) is reimagined in Aslin’s indie rock style before ending the album with title track and original “inflight,” summarizing the feeling of landing home after a long flight.
Like almost all of Aslin’s cover art, Inflight features the work of an artist very near and dear to her heart: her grandmother. Visual artist Nancy Jo Mullen made the print image pictured on the right “If Gyllian were a bird” on May 14th 2006 (Aslin’s fifth birthday) and later was gifted to the songwriter, inspiring her third musical project.

Inflight is Aslin’s third short form project. A lover of the recording studio and also a broke college student, Aslin has yet to record a full length album. But in the meantime, she’s put her music business degree to work managing herself and successfully booking a tour of the Pacific Northwest to promote Inflight in the summer of 2024.
